Chalet Apart Austria is surrounded by beautiful nature. The largest nature park in the Alps, National Park Hohe Tauern, a true winter paradise, where there is much more to do than just skiing or snowboarding.

Take for example a romantic tour in a TRADITIONAL SLEDGE.  Go sledding with the children in the valley, or do some truly adventurous SLEDDING on the Kohlschnait in the nearby village of Bruck.  You are picked up in tractor with a trailer, which has the sledges hooked on the back – super fun.  There is a small hill for toboogan a play ground and cozy restaurant where you can have delicious hot chocolate. A good start for you begin the 3 km sledding tour.You can also go tobogganing at night, fun for the whole family.

If you want to ICE SKATE then go to the outdoor track in Kaprun. There is also an iceskate rink in Zell am See. Cozy meeting place swith restaurants around the corner. In Zell am See you can also skate and play ice hockey in Eishalle. And who knows maybe on Lake Zell this year.

Do you like CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING or would you like to try it? At the Ice Rink in Kaprun you can take lessons and rent cross-country skiing equipment. There are 58 km of trails with fantastic views, these are connected to the 200 km of cross-country trails of the Pinzgauerland. The 3 km long Glacier Track is spectacular.

Book a guided SNOW SHOE WALK, and make it as relaxing or challenging as you like.  A guide will lead you to the most beautiful places with fantastic views. A thoroughly enjoyable and unforgettable winter sport experience.

Your WINTER HOLIDAY starts right on our doorstep.  There are beautiful WINTER HIKING trails from the Chalet and Apartment through the white WIDE VALLEY AND  snow-capped mountain peaks .

Our favourite Winter Wonderland walking routes

FLAT WALKS

  • The PANORAMIC ROAD directly from Chalet Apart Austria to Piesendorf. Go right, by the bridge left and take the first road left, the Pammerweg. Cross the farmersyard and follow the path to Piesendorf. There you can stop for a delicious Apple Strudel. You can  return through the valley, or you can continue further to Walchen.  There is the option to return by bus or Lokahlbahn.
  • Along the SALZACH – A nice flat walk from Chalet Apart Austria. Through the tunnel along the paths towards Kaprun. Go left by the Flowershop . Across the bridge go left. You can also start in Kaprun . First you take the Bus. You can walk to  Bruck or Zell am See.  You decide the length of your walk.
  • Golfplatz there is a beautiful walk arcross the golfplatz. Firts walk to the golfplatz or take the bus.
  • Around the KLAMMSEE you have a view of the Kitzsteinhorn and Hohe Tauern. Enjoy the silence. It is fun to take the little ones on the sled or in the stroller.
  • Over the BOULEVARD of  ZELL AM SEE along the ZELLER SEE.  Sit on the terrace at the Grand hotel or meander through Zell am See with its many terraces and restaurants.

MOUNTAIN HIKES – always take walking sticks with you

  • The MAISKOGEL with it’s beautiful mountain huts. You can take the ski lift back or the other way around.
  • To our favourite mountain hut, the EBERBERGALM, with a fantastic view of Lake Zell.  There are two routes. From Zell am See at the city lift, the easier route, or from Schuttdorf up next to the Dorffschenke.  It is nice to have lunch together with the skiers.
  • WINTER HIKING TRAIL#28 (Schmittenhöhe – Sonnkogel): From the mountain station, hike to the summit and continue to the Sonnkogel. Follow the green signs for #28; the trail runs alongside the piste and offers stunning views and art. Duration: 2-2.5 hours return. You’ll also pass the Art on the Mountain.
  • SISSI WALK: A relaxed hike that starts and ends at the Elisabeth Chapel, through idyllic forests with views of Lake Zell.
