Fun hiking routes for children
in the region of Zell am See – Kaprun
There are many fun walks for children in the immediate and wider surroundings of Chalet on the Rood and Apartment Smitten in Zell am See – Kaprun.
Remember that children get bored easily so keep the walks short and interesting.
Make sure there is something to do. Then they will last longer.
Important to remember: Wear good walking shoes, wear a hat and/or sunglasses, bring a backpack with drinks and snack. Remember the sunscreen.
A small reward or treat at the end is always a bonus.
JUST DO A FEW NICE WALKS AND TRIPS – something for the children to experience and remember.
from our Chalets to Piesendorf
A good first walk for the children. From our chalets you walk to the bridge. Turn left and enter the Pammerweg at the fork. As far as the Wengerbau farm, you walk across the yard. There is a slight incline before the descent. This takes you on the Panorama Road to Piesendorf, know as the Panorama Route. As a reward, you can have a swim in the Hinkelstein Swimming Pool in Piesendorf (free as our guests).
You can then either walk the same route back or take the Lokahbahn, (which is also free) back to Fürth – don’t forget to take your map!
Lots of entertainment close by
Just 2 km away so either walk, bike, bus or drive and you will reach the bottom of the Maiskogel in Kaprun. This is where the fun starts right away.
ENJOY THE FANTASTIC VIEWS!
on the Schmittenhöhe
Just 2 km away, you can take the Areithbaan uphill to Schmidolins Feuertaufe is truly a fun children’s walk full of adventure and many activities. You can choose three routes from short to long (Our 3 and 4 year old grandchildren enjoyed the longer route).
There is also a E-Motorcross Park for children from 6 years old to adult.
You can walk here, it’s a 3 1/2 hour walk from our house. With children, go there by bike, by bus or by the Lokalbahn and take the lift up.
At the Areith Lounge you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the view.

in Hinterglemm
A little further away (30 km) at the end of the valley at Saalbach-Hinterglemm, is a very nice children’s walk. There are a variety of walks here for young and old.
The best for children is:
Treetop/Gnome Path and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Tip:
Take the train up and walk back down. This is very doable on a warm day as the route is shaded by trees. On the way back, take a dip in the Zellersee.
in Fusch an der Gross Glockner
Within 20 km you can be at the Ferleiten Wild and Aventure. Park
Children and animals, always a success. Get to know the animals which live wild in the mountains. A fun children’s walk with climbing and descending., and afterwards the children can play in the adventure park.
from Kaprun to Bruck
This children’s walk goes along the free exercise path. Take the bus to Kaprun and get off at the Maiskogel. Cross the road towards Restaurant Auhof. That’s where the Motorik Fun Road starts. Fun for all ages. Halfway there is a nice play picnic area.
This is often enough for the little ones. But with a stroller or our jogger you can walk about 5 km to Bruck and then you arrive at it Adventure Midget Golf in Bruck on the Gross Glocknerstraße.
There is also a lovely swimming pool and restaurant.
You can go back on the bus.
in Kaprun
This is also a beautiful walk and experience for the whole family. You can easily get there by bike, bus or car. Just 5.5 km away from our chalets and you are at the bottom of Sigmund Thun Klamm
Afterwards you can walk around the Klamm See. At the top, do not cross the bridge but follow the path. You will then automatically return to the parking lot. Halfway there is a restaurant with of course a playground. Children also have fun at the water’s edge, with sand and pebbles. The water is too cold to swim, but it will cool you down nicely.
