Chalet Apart Austria is surrounded by beautiful nature, the Kitsbühel Alps and the Höhe Tauern. With a view of the Maiskogel, Kitzsteinhorn and Grossglockner. All of which are now in beautiful bloom and smell wonderfully of fresh grass, spring flowers and herbs.

The Zell am See and Kaprun region is a true hiking paradise.  Countless routes, you can’t get enough.

Bleu route

Easy walks up to 2 hours long and no more than 300 meters of elevation. Suitable for all skill and fitness levels with accessible trails. A few routes that you can walk directly from or near CHALET APART AUSTRIA:

  • Along the SALZACH A beautiful flat walk with a view of the mountains. Through the tunnel towards Kaprun. Here are paths that lead you to Kaprun, Bruck or Zell am See. You decide how long your walk will be. You can easily walk here for a few days.
  • The PANORAMIC ROAD  from Chalet Apart Austria to Piesendorf.  The first 150 meters are a bit of a climb. Then straight to Piesendorf with a small descent to the village. Light up for a delicious apple strudel. Continue the FÜRTHER ROUND back through the valley.
  • SIGMUND THUN KLAM and KLAMMSEE. The first part to Kaprun is a bit boring (you can also do it by bus). Walk up the stairs, a fascinating spectacle of water splashing down and flowing wildly. At the top, you have a view of the Kitzsteinhorn and HöheTauern. Enjoy the silence. Be sure to go around the lake! ( a very short climb. You can also cross first and take the other side) Also take a look at the museum about the dams.
  • The BOULEVARD from ZELL AM SEE to Priellau Take the Lokahlbahn to Zell am See. Walk along the Zellersee to Priellau and back about 7 km. Go through Zell am See with its many terraces and restaurants, or sit on the terrace at the Grand hotel. You can also opt for the big circuit around the lake, 11.5 km. You determine your own goal.

Also beautiful walking routes for which you have to go a short distance by car or bus.

  • SAALBACH PROMONADE ROUND 20 minutes by car or bus and you are in Saalbach. There you can enjoy a lovely walk around Saalbach across the meadows and along the Saalach river. There are also routes at the top of the mountains that do not have much difference in height.
  • HINTERGLEMM  GLEMMTAL  30 minutes, also lovely walks here. Super fun for young and older children, the Gnome Treetop Path and the Goldengate Bridge, trampolines, climbing, abseiling and the flyingfox. Highly recommended.
  • HINTERSEE 30 minutes towards Mittersill. Park at the Schönwandklamm and follow the signs to Hintersee. Nice route,  you can make it easier by going on the asphalt road. Or park close by.

Red route

Compare it to the slopes, you have red and black slopes. The concept of red mountain path is a lot broader. The difficulty rating for red mountain hiking trails indicates that you do need some experience. You can expect narrow and somewhat steeper sections on these paths. You may even have to do some climbing and scrambling every now and then.

  • KITZSTEINHORN climb the 3000 m. You do this under the guidance of a mountain guide. It’s not a long climb. So a great start for the novice mountain climber.  Not entirely without risk.
